Codesnipp.it is a social sharing site made just for developers by developers. You see, we got tired of all the designers getting the cool sites so we decided to make something just for us.
What is a codesnipp.it?
Codesnipp.its are pieces of code, plugins, or anything developer related you'd love to share. These may be simple one to two line pieces of code you have trouble remembering, or something you've written completely from scratch.
Your account
Each developer starts out with a free account. You can upgrade your account if you'd like to have your own private codesnipp.its.
Add your codesnipp.its
If you've got a piece of code to share, you can easily title.it, categorize.it and tag.it from you homepage when you're logged in.
Follow your favorite developers
You can also view the timeline of the developers you follow on your homepage, or switch the timeline to display everyone on codesnipp.it's updates. This is a great way to find other great developers!
How do I describe my codesnipp.it?
There are two ways users have been documenting their codesnipp.its. You can either put comments inside the code letting users know what the code does, or you can simply leave the first comment underneath the codesnipp.it.
What if my codesnipp.it contains multiple languages or files?
You can either post each section in it's own codesnipp.it and post the links to the other files in the comments section, or you can simply place all of the code together and put comments in the code letting users know where each section goes.
What if I need code help?
Postings aren't just for your snippits! You can find help by posting your question and code as a snippit too, simply by checking the "question" checkbox. Be sure to do a search first though, to make sure your question hasn't already been answered.
What are the ninjas on the avatars for?
User with ninjas on their avatars are premium users with an unlimited posting account. You can upgrade your account for $10 here.
I don't want to share my codesnipp.its, I want them to be private.
Premium members (ninja account holders) have access to a private timeline that allows them to add code without it being seen by anyone else.
